May 14th, 1948 is when Israel
became a nation against all odds. Rebirth is based on this actual
historical event on a scale similar to Pearl Harbor. In 1945 when
WWII ended, the Holocaust survivors had nowhere to go, since
Hitler's propaganda had taken its toll. Based on prophecies and
specifically on Amos 9:14,15, Jews sought refuge in Palestine, now
modern day Israel. How these battered Holocaust survivors built the
leading Middle East country, when the Arabs, post war Nazis and
another empire (Named in Rebirth) gave even more opposition than
their foes of today, was nothing short of a miracle. Imagine being
surrounded by 5 angry nations going in for the kill, with a 60:1
advantage in troops and armory.
Besides loving
writing, which is huge for me, I have so much to say in the realm of
encouraging others and that's what my new novel titled Rebirth,
about the rebirth of Israel does.

Books-and-Authors.net:Where
did you grow up and was reading and writing a part of your life? Who
were your earliest influences and why?
Dave Longeuay:
I grew up and
still live in Southern California near Disneyland. Writing was
always more a part of my life (even at childhood) than reading was.
But I started more serious reading in the mid 1980s. My earliest
influences (don't laugh) were autobiographies of favorite rock
groups like Led Zeppelin. (oops, I just dated myself.)
Books-and-Authors.net:
Why do you write?
Dave Longeuay:
Besides loving
writing, which is huge for me, I have so much to say in the realm of
encouraging others and that's what my new novel titled Rebirth,
about the rebirth of Israel does.
Books-and-Authors.net: Discuss
your new book "Rebirth".How did a
remnant of scattered Jews rise to build a mighty superpower in the
Middle East?
Dave Longeuay:
Fleeing his
father’s anti-Semitic organization, Charles Devonshire, journeys
into the most volatile land-grab in history—Post WWII, Palestine.
Charles pursues a beautiful but mysterious librarian, Gladia, who
introduces him to the elaborate Jewish underground. While joining
their plight to reestablish a homeland, he falls in love with her
and faces painful challenges in developing a relationship within
their culture gap. And in the midst of battling the hostile
inhabitants who also laid claim to Palestine, he searches for clues
of his own troubled past.
Can Charles
pursue love, uncover his family secrets and avoid being trapped in
the middle of the world’s longest feud?
Dave Longeuay:
Rebirth draws
you into 1948, into a world of intrigue, espionage and
anti-Semitism. Witness how ancient prophecies were fulfilled against
impossible odds as Israel built a nation and defied skeptics.
Journey through the precarious events that led to Israel’s
miraculous rebirth on May 14, 1948. Experience the unrelenting
pursuits of the most persecuted race, and how their renewed strength
reestablished their original language, customs and land cultivations
after 2,000 years of desolation—an accomplishment no other nation
can claim.
Books-and-Authors.net: "Rebirth"
takes place in 1948 -- Why that year? "Rebirth" is based on actual
events. Explain.
Dave Longeuay:
Books-and-Authors.net: Did you have to do much research for "Rebirth"?
Dave Longeuay:
Massive research, because I'm a stickler for accuracy and detail. I
initially spend 18 months of intensive research and then kept
researching and verifying facts as I wrote the manuscript over a 3
year period. For those who love great historical stories like
Schindler's List and Pearl Harbor, Rebirth will satisfy their
enjoyment of learning more about this volatile era while
experiencing incredible human sprits and a heart-tugging love story
right in the middle of it.
Books-and-Authors.net: In your opinion , how has the social medias
like Facebook helped authors?
Dave Longeuay:
We can now interact with those who are
specifically interested in our stories by searching groups that are
on FB. I'm used to spending tens of thousands on paper ads back in
the day when my multimedia business was thriving. (www.publicrecording.com)
Now I can advertise on social media sites for a fraction of that
with better targeting and better response.
Books-and-Authors.net: What are readers saying about "Rebirth" ?
Dave Longeuay:
Here's the best quote I've gotten so far:
"Rebirth is
a compelling novel which manages to perform the difficult task of
being very entertaining and informative. The depth of characters
allow the reader to experience the struggles of Israel's birth, both
personal and political."
—Rabbi Eric
Tokajer
Books-and-Authors.net: What do you hope to achieve with "Rebirth"?
Dave Longeuay:
Many things. Encouraging people on a global scale that God is
listening and that no problem is too big or to small for Him.
Entertaining people with the interactive character developments.
Hopefully generate enough sales to conduct full time appearances to
share more about biblical prophecies and raise awareness about
supporting Israel. One important fact is that Israel is one of the
leading partners in fighting terrorism. They have also contributed
to the world in amazing ways with the highest number of noble prizes
per capita. They also invented the cell phone, instant messaging and
dozens of other major things we all use in science and medicine.
Books-and-Authors.net: What was the last book you read? Besides
Rebirth?
Dave Longeuay:
The bible from cover to cover. It's a fascinating book
packed with amazing prophecies and encouragements. I also enjoy John
Grisham's books.
