Sati Achath is a cartoonist, caricaturist, author,
hand shadow
puppeteer, ventriloquist, and magician. His
caricatures have been published in more than 25 U.S.
national newspapers. He has been featured on
CNN, ABC, CBS, and many other television channels in
the U.S. and abroad. Achath is working as a Project
Evaluation Specialist for the World Bank in
Washington, D.C. He has four master's degrees:
English Literature, International Relations, MBA,
and Finance, and speaks six languages. He lives in
Bowie, Maryland.
Achath’s first book was Fun with Hand Shadows and
Hollywood Celebrities: Basic Things You’ve Always
Wanted to Know, Vol. 1 is his second publication.

Books-and-Authors.net: Where did you grow up and was reading and
writing a part of your life? Who were your earliest influences and
why?
Sati Achath:I grew up in a small town called Thrissur in Kerala, in India. Yes,
I used to read a lot during my childhood and in my college days. I
had not written anything seriously during early part of my life. But
I used to write many letters to pen friends those days as that was
one of hobbies. My pen friends and my other friends had commented
that I had a very good style of writing letters and that my writing
was humorous.
My earliest influence was my father. He was a well read man and he
had a wide range of interests on many subjects. My father encouraged
me to participate in extracurricular activities. He was the most
gentle person one could ever think of, and he never used to get
angry, he was very patient, and he had a very good sense of humor.

caricaturist?
Sati Achath:I am a self-taught cartoonist and caricaturist. I have been drawing
and painting since childhood and I had won prizes in drawing and
painting competitions during my school and college days. Even those
days, I used to draw cartoons and caricatures.

Sati Achath:In the preparation of this book, I did research online. I referred
to information available at several online sites such as The
Internet Movie Database (IMDb), Biography.com, People magazine,
celebrity websites, and of course Wikipedia.

as much fun for you to write?
Sati Achah:
Yes, definitely, it was fun to write this book. I learned a lot
about these Hollywood celebrities and writing a synopsis on each
celebrity was exciting.

Show with David Letterman - How much fun was that?
Sati Achath:My appearance on Late Show with David Letterman will always remain
to be one of the highlights of my life. I enjoyed being in his Show
as I got a rare opportunity to speak to him, teach him how to create
hand shadow mages, and then create his own shadow profile.

with caricatures of these celebrities, drawn by myself.
